SYNOPSIS
Carol Blackwood, a private investigator struggling with a custody battle for his daughter, Sara, sits in his car outside a Beverly Hills mansion. It’s 2 a.m., and he is there to capture compromising photos of Mitchell Turner, a famous actor embroiled in scandal. The photos are vital for securing Carol's financial future and winning custody of Sara. Carol delivers the photos to Peri Blazor, a formidable attorney at Blazor & Associates, who appreciates his work but emphasizes the importance of discretion. The pressure of Carol's job weighs heavily on him, especially when he receives a message from his ex-wife, Daryl, criticizing him for missing Sara’s recital. As he waits outside another hotel for more compromising photos, he is approached by Alex Reid, a fellow private investigator and former fling, who proposes a partnership. Carol agrees, and together they uncover significant corruption in Los Angeles. Their investigation peaks with evidence against a high-profile councilman, leading to a tense confrontation that results in the councilman stepping down. However, the danger of their work becomes evident when Carol receives a threatening message. Shifting his focus to the upcoming custody hearing, Carol, with Alex’s and Peri’s help, presents a strong case and wins shared custody of Sara. He extends an olive branch to Daryl, aiming to rebuild their relationship for Sara's sake. Carol reduces his caseload to focus on his daughter, spending cherished weekends with her. Alex opens her own agency, specializing in corporate investigations. As Carol watches Sara perform in a school play, he reflects on his journey, grateful for the hard-won balance between his professional and personal life. Despite the challenges ahead, Carol feels fortified by his love for Sara and the respect he has earned.
